BIOGRAPHY
Jagath Poorna “Jaga” is a Sri Lankan cricketer who made his debut for the Sri Lankan domestic highest level in 2019. He is a left-arm orthadox-spin bowler who bats right-handed.
Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1995, he started to play cricket when he was 9 years old (2004), he played under 13 – under 19 in his school. At the same time he played for provincial tournaments for Western province Sri Lanka, he also played under 19 in the 2013 India tour of Sri Lanka for unofficial 4 days tests .
Jaga signed the contract with Sri Lanka Port Authority in 2019 for the main event in domestic cricket which Is called premier league in 2019/2020 domestic cricket Sri Lanka. Jaga did pretty well in the tournament against national players who played for Sri Lanka. He is a brilliant fielder who can field anywhere in the ground and a good minded batsman who can for the situation in the game and got few wickets in the tournament as well .
When he finished Major league in Sri Lanka he got an offer in Australia to play the summer season. The club was located in Melbourne he signed that and he went to Australia in 2020 and he was the best bowler in the club in his first season and with the few runs from the bat and the become runner up in one day tournament and they were crowned KFC T20 tournament in the same time.
End of 2020 he signed up with the Sri Lanka Police Cricket Club for his next major league with his performance he got a good offer but unfortunately Jaga got an injury during the match in that season due to which he had played only one match in the season .
Post recovery, he played Mercantile League, one of the interesting tournaments held by Sri Lanka Mercantile Association for Mclarens Holdings, he got a few 4 wicket hauls and few half centuries and they became runner-up twice.
One of the most aggressive characters in Sri Lankan cricket and one of the young prospects still growing, getting his experience under national cricketers in and in future we can see him with the national colors.
